Our method

How our job scam checker works

OfferVerity is a free beta for job seekers deciding whether to continue a recruiter conversation. It combines the details you provide with available domain evidence. It does not confirm a recruiter’s identity or guarantee employment.

What we check

• Payment requests, equipment-purchase demands, requests for sensitive information, and other warning signs in your answers.
• Domain-registration information from public RDAP services, where available. A recently created domain adds context; an old domain does not prove legitimacy.
• DNS mail records such as MX, SPF, and DMARC. These describe domain configuration, not whether the person contacting you is authorized.
• Employer-domain and lookalike comparisons only when a reviewed employer record is available. Coverage is limited; an unknown employer is not automatically suspicious.

What the result means

Pasted messages and job descriptions are optional. We match a small set of phrases about urgency, payment methods, and guaranteed jobs; this is not contextual AI analysis. A phrase can appear in a legitimate message too. Select any warning signs that happened and read each finding in context.

Danger signs means the check found indicators that need attention. Unverified means we cannot confirm the opportunity, including when no indicators were found. The score is a rules-based indicator, not the probability that a job is fraudulent.

Unavailable evidence is shown as unavailable. We do not treat a failed lookup as proof that an opportunity is safe. This beta does not verify offer-letter signatures, salary fairness, company culture, or financial stability.

Verify independently before accepting

1. Find the employer’s official website yourself and locate its careers page.
2. Ask the employer, through independently found contact details, to confirm the role and recruiter.
3. Pause if you are asked to pay, buy equipment from a designated seller, or disclose passwords and OTPs.
4. Keep the messages and payment references if you suspect fraud, and contact your payment provider promptly if money was sent.

Your information

Remove private credentials and identity numbers before submitting. Shared reports exclude pasted messages and recruiter contact details. Read the privacy notice for retention and deletion details.
